Midlands NEC casino to bring jobs boost to Solihull

Solihull could benefit from a £120m investment if the much-debated Resorts World development is given the green light by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, it is claimed. Birmingham-based Genting, which would operate the casino complex, said more than 1,100 jobs would be created if the proposals were accepted.

The development would be created at the NEC if a casino licence and planning permission are granted by the council.

Genting said it was currently preparing a planning application for Resorts World to be submitted in the early summer of 2011 if the casino licence is granted.
It is anticipated that a decision on the large casino licence will be made in the late May of 2011.

The complex will be approximately 50,000m2 (538,195 sq ft) in floor space across seven floors. It will comprise a hotel, spa, casino, conference and banqueting centre, multi screen cinema, outlet centre, food and beverage outlets and car parking for 300 vehicles.?
