Mayor opens Genting Club Reading
Genting Club Reading officially opened its doors on Thursday 8th November to welcome VIP guests from across the county. The Worshipful the Mayor of Reading Cllr Jenny Rynn cut the ribbon along with Paul Willcock Managing Director of Genting Casinos UK and Jimmy Howard, General Manager of Genting Club Reading, to celebrate the club’s multi million pound transformation. The club also staged a second official launch event for customers on Friday 9th November.
The new-look casino hosted a 1920’s themed evening on Thursday complete with a classic car display including a very rare 1930 Rolls Royce, 1920’s band, dancers and magician. Later, guests were entertained by Heart FM award-winning singer Tony Roberts. Guests included Chairman of the Conservative Party National Convention, Paul Swaddle and MP Robert Wilson, Sir John Madejski along with London Irish players George Skivington, Darren Allinson and Declan Danaher. The casino held a prize draw to win a meal for four at the world famous Crockfords Club in London which is also owned by Genting Casinos. Sir John Madejski offered to pluck the winning ticket and George Skivington was the lucky winner!
Invitations to Friday’s official public launch event were in high demand as customers were given the chance to win £250,000 in the club’s ‘roll the dice’ competition. The evening commenced with a group of African drummers who captured guest’s attention whilst creating a fabulous heart beat throughout the club. During the evening nine finalists were drawn throughout enter the ‘cash cube’ from which the top three scorers were challenged to roll three fives for the £250,000 grand prize. Although none of them managed to roll the three fives, they each won £1,000 and were delighted with their prizes.
Jimmy Howard, General Manager of Genting Club Reading said “The two days were thrilling for many different reasons. On Thursday I was proud to present a new destination for the whole of Berkshire and beyond to enjoy, whether it be for dining, drinking, entertainment or the casino.. I was also proud to announce that the Mayor was the first person to book our venue for a charity fund-raising function in January next year. On Friday we created a lasting memory for three individuals who had the free chance to win a life-changing £250,000. Whist the grand prize was not won, the tense and electric atmosphere created by the evening’s schedule will have created an experience for everyone involved.’
The £2 million investment in the Genting Club has resulted in the creation of 25 additional positions covering both gaming and leisure roles.
The Gennting Club has been transformed and now includes the Fahrenheit Bar and Grill, a premium restaurant and contemporary bar, private VIP booths and a new dedicated entertainment area with performance stage. The club has a packed schedule of free live entertainment every Friday and Saturday night in the run up to Christmas.
