Genting Gives for Charity
Genting Casinos are known for operating popular gaming, leisure and social destinations around the country and are proud to be part of their local communities.
These strong ties are evident in the varied and widespread support for local good causes and charities which the our venues get behind. The ‘Genting Gives’ initiatives raise thousands of pounds and also engage customers, encourage our team spirit and raise awareness too.
The lively and entertaining fundraising comes in various guises, from colleagues taking on sponsored challenges as individuals to whole teams adopting a charity with enthusiastic and enterprising gusto.
In recent months for example Liverpool’s Genting Club Queen Square has raised more than £4,000 and counting for Macmillan Cancer Support. The cause is personal because well-loved gaming manager Kathy Lever sadly lost her fight against cancer and another colleague is undergoing treatment for the disease.
After raising money through a charity night in the casino’s 1880 Bar, a sponsored walk and a half marathon run, funds will be further boosted when a 14 strong team takes on the 5K course in the Run For The 96 event on Sunday 19 April.
Game-for-a-laugh colleagues at Genting Casino Nottingham did not have to run too far in the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake races held by local businesses for charity. It was just as well the course was short as the team dressed up as playing cards which hampered their speed somewhat.
Rather more endurance will be required in this month’s Great Wall of China Trek for the Responsible Gambling Trust which Monika Vileniskyte from Genting’s Colony Club and Vici Cooper-Jones from our Finance team are undertaking.
Our venues are also keen to help when community groups wish to organise their own charity events. That was the case when Genting Club Sheffield hosted a fundraiser compered by Sheffield Wednesday legend David Hirst which raised an amazing £15,300 for autism charities.
Genting UK’s Head of Marketing James Thomas said: “We have fantastic public spirited colleagues and generous customers and we are always extremely grateful for their support to help others.
“Our businesses are in the heart of local communities and helping those communities whenever we can is a big deal for us.”
