1.10 - Mirabeau En Provence Handicap (5f)
Richard Hughes and Ryan Moore may combine to land a trappy opener with CASPIAN QUEEN. Her form here at Goodwood (win over 6f/short-head defeat over C&D) is in stark contrast to three disappointing runs at Newmarket and so she's forgiven the latest below-par run at HQ in late June where she was favourite.
That was largely due to her excellent second here where she split the re-opposing pair Electric Ladyland and Spanish Angel. Another stride would have got her up that day and, combined with the Newmarket run since, she now finds herself 6lb better off with the top-weight today. First-time cheekpieces could eke out more but, moreover, being back at Goodwood is a big positive and she can avenge Archie Watson's Cable Bay filly for that last-time C&D defeat.
Bal Mal is on a five-timer after four sprint successes in a month for trainer John Quinn. He was nothing if not game last time at Chepstow and likely hasn't hit his ceiling just yet. He is 6lb higher though and going up markedly in grade, which might cause him a problem.

1.45 - Unibet You're On Handicap (1m2f)
A three-year-old handicap laced with potential and nowhere more so than with AL SALT for the thriving William Haggas team, whose win here on Tuesday in the opening race with Tomorrow's Dream was a part of a perfect 3-3 afternoon at three different tracks for his yard; which now boasts a 28 per cent strike rate from more than 60 runners in the last fortnight.
This Mukhadram gelding has won both starts on the all-weather since returning to action this summer and can take well to turf as he steps up in distance to a mile and a quarter. The Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned Al Salt was still very much a work in progress at Wolverhampton last time, cruising into the lead under Jim Crowley on the turn for home before running wide and almost forfeiting his race. When Crowley got after him he straightened and quickened for a second time to rally and come away to win. He makes his handicap debut with plenty of scope for better.
Zabeel Champion is a player for Mark Johnston after successive wins at Newmarket over this trip recently. Ryan Moore's mount likes to be up on the pace and will prove a tough nut to crack at this venue where his trainer routinely thrives. John Gosden's Magical Morning needs to bounce back from a below par run at Headquarters three weeks ago but may well do just that, and he joins Bright Melody and Magnetised in completing a lengthy shortlist.

2.15 - Qatar Richmond Stakes (Group 2, 6f)
Yazaman (second) had Qaader back in fourth in the July Stakes at Newmarket as he again played second fiddle to the impressive Royal Ascot winner Tactical. That was another step forward from William Haggas' charge, who sets the standard. The aforementioned Qaader had previously finished second to 150/1 shot Nando Parrado in the Coventry Stakes at Ascot and should bounce back, at a track where his Middleham trainer boasts plenty of winners.
Admiral Nelson was a disappointing favourite in the Coventry and needs to rebound, with even the form of his maiden win coming into question. He's clearly not one to write off for powerful connections, however.
Last year's winning combo Clive Cox and Adam Kirby team up with Supremacy but he's got improvement to find and so preference is for GUSSY MAC in an open race. Roger Teal's Dark Angel colt overcame trouble in running to win a Listed 5f sprint at Sandown 25 days ago, with leading Molecomb contender Significantly behind in second.
He's improving with each start and should find 6f around here within his compass judged on the way he ran to the line last time. He needs to improve again but might just be capable.
2.45 - John Pearce Racing Gordon Stakes (Group 3, 1m4f)
After his win in the Lingfield Derby Trial in early June, the Ed Walker-trained ENGLISH KING headed for Epsom at the start of this month with a leading chance of Classic glory. He was usurped on the day by 2,000 Guineas winner Kameko at the head of the betting; while they were both left flailing in the race itself as Serpentine led the field a merry dance.
Frankie Dettori and English King came home a neck behind Kameko in fifth, with today's rival Mogul just behind and Khalifa Sat (50-1) ahead in second but no match for the tearaway winner.
Assessing the ins-and-outs of The Derby is for another day but, safe to assume, connections of English King didn't get the race they expected and, like one or two others, it's a race they'll lament over in their reflective moments for a long time.
Of course the great thing about racing is there is always another chance and another opportunity. His Lingfield success was most taking and the runner-up Berkshire Rocco gave a hat-tip to it at Royal Ascot behind the subsequent Irish Derby winner Santiago.
'Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me' will be the mantra for Frankie Dettori in the Gordon Stakes, and he'll have his mount positioned to challenge in this small field, unlike at Epsom. The drop in class should reap rewards for the promising Camelot colt in colours that shone so bright on day one of Glorious Goodwood.
After his Listed win here in June made it 2-2 at the track, the aforementioned Khalifa Sat was let away in The Derby as an afterthought before running a stormer. His record on these Downs isn't to be sniffed at now.
Mogul, too, remains capable of better though must see this trip out stronger, while Bahrain Trophy winner Al Aasy is an improving son of Sea The Stars for a trainer in red-hot form; though he finds himself in the unfortunate position of shouldering a 3lb penalty for his win in that Newmarket Group 3 recently in this strong company.
PLAY SCUDAMORE'S SUPER STAKES SLOT HERE
3.15 - Qatar Nassau Stakes (Fillies' Group 1, 1m2f)
John Gosden's Nazeef continues to churn out the wins, the Invincible Spirit filly having made it six on the bounce when she fended off the former 1,000 Guineas winner Billesdon Brook to take the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket early in the month.
She continues to progress and cannot be faulted in the wake of that first venture into elite company. Her breeding also hints that she'll be well able for this additional quarter of a mile and therefore she needs maximum respect under Jim Crowley.
Deirdre was an emotive winner of this very race a year ago and the Japanese-trained mare has been around the world since with some gallant efforts in defeat. She should give another good account of herself but the stats show that last year's Falmouth field have failed to register a win between them since that race and perhaps 2019 was not a vintage renewal. This one almost certainly looks stronger.
Magic Wand finished a place ahead of Deirdre in the Eclipse at Sandown and, like her fellow globe-trotter needs respecting back in against her own sex but it's surely noteworthy that Ryan Moore scorns her in favour of FANCY BLUE.
The Deep Impact filly was 2-2 last season when trained by Aidan O'Brien and is now the high-profile star of Donnacha O'Brien's maiden season in the training ranks. She returned with a two-length second in the Irish 1,000 Guineas behind Peaceful on her first start for this trainer.
That race had produced a Group 3 winner in Valeria Messalina as well as the very impressive Juddmonte Irish Oaks winner Even So.
Fancy Blue meanwhile saw out every single inch of 1m2½f at Chantilly to win the Prix De Diane, holding off Coronation Stakes winner Alpine Start in a sustained duel in the home straight.
On that evidence alone she'll be hard to beat but, after only four runs, it's likely she goes on improving. With Ryan Moore's backing; she is the one to aim at here and she might not be as big as 5/2 in the betting were it A P O'Brien beside her name on the racecard.
For one to outrun a big price, it's worth having a close look at One Voice for Jessica Harrington and Tom Marquand. She's improving this term and did well to finish as close as she did in a Curragh Group 2 recently having got jammed on the running rail as everything unfolded. She was favourite for that and, with a clearer run, can get competitive at a decent price.

3.45 - Gusbourne Nursery (7f)
He ran into a subsequent impressive Group 2 winner in Master Of The Seas at Newmarket on his second start when going down less than a length and WILLIAM BLIGH confirmed the promise of that run when he made short work of a Haydock novice on his next start.
He looks an appealing sort for Ralph Beckett at a stomping ground where he typically lands more than his share of winners. Despite conceding upwards of 6lb to his rivals, Harry Bentley's mount is the one they all to have to fear.
Running Back is a viable alternative on form for Richard Hannon and Oisin Murphy but so too is Quarantini for Richard Fahey team.
The filly was green on debut at Doncaster in June but shaped with promise and the likes of Spright and Zoetic have since boosted the form. She has since run well upped to 7f on Newcastle's Tapeta and can get involved back on turf from what appears a fair opening mark of 71.

4.20 - British European Breeders Fund EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes (7f)
Plenty of these showed promise in their debut runs, with Dreams Unwind, Teodolina and Miss Chess amongst them. Richard Hannon's daughter of Kodiac was quite green on her Newmarket bow, a race that threw up next-time-out winner Miss Jingles. She can almost certainly improve on that form and is as likely as any in this field for Ryan Moore.
Newcomers Spirit Of Bermuda and Zooma require close inspection in the betting but this may go to ICONIC QUEEN for the Ralph Beckett and Harry Bentley team.
She'll have learned plenty from her debut third on the all-weather at Kempton behind a promising pair in Basilicata and Sarsaparilla early in the month and can come forward for that.
While Mark Johnston is easily the most prolific winner at this venue in recent times, it's worth noting that Beckett boasts an excellent strike-rate from a smaller number of runners, with a 16 per-cent win-rate from close to 100 Goodwood starters in the preceding five years.
4.55 - Tatler Nursery (5f)
Winter Power routed her rivals on nursery bow at Redcar just three days ago, coming home five lengths clear of the field. What the form amounts to remains to be seen and while she's much respected given the manner of the win, a 6lb penalty in this tougher field will almost certainly pose a real question. She's entitled to her claims but is going to be short in the betting.
Harswell Prince was down the field in that race behind Tim Easterby's winner and he'd also finished well in arrears of ACKLAM EXPRESS at Hamilton previously. The Nigel Tinkler runner built on the promise of his debut at Beverley and should be well suited by the nature of this 5f test given his win in Scotland.
There's improvement to come and with Oisin Murphy booked today he looks a decent chance getting 7lb from the filly Winter Power on his nursery bow.
Salsoul is improving with racing and has finished second in recent starts at Hamilton and Ripon, with the Mark Johnston-trained filly deemed likely to improve once more for her switch to this sphere at a venue where her connections do so well.
