British Grand Prix 2020 Preview And Betting Tips

After what has been a frantic start to the 2020 campaign owing primarily to the effects of the Covid pandemic, we now head into the second trio of races starting with a Silverstone double header before we head off to Barcelona. Defending champion Hamilton leads team-mate Bottas by five-points, and one expects that margin to increase come the chequered flag on Sunday in a race that the Brit has won on no less than six occasions, including five of the last six. Tipsters Form Labs guide you to the end of the race with their betting preview and tips for the British Grand Prix.

Hamilton The Favourite

Lewis Hamilton will relish the opportunity to have back to back races in his home circuit having broken the record for most Silverstone wins with his sixth win last year, and we wouldn’t bet against him adding to that again.

The Brit has taken pole into the last two races in Styrian and Hungary respectively, going on to win both and catapulting him to the top of the standings.

He has a five point lead over Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas, though the Fin will be looking to bounce back having won the 2020 opener in Austria, and we can see it being another battle of the Mercedes.

Lewis Hamilton To Win

The small breather between Hungary and here has allowed time for development, with chasers Red Bull and Ferrari undergoing a technical reshuffle in order to make up lost ground on Mercedes.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen finished runner up in Budapest, though that was largely down to Bottas having a very difficult start as the ‘Silver Arrows’ were by far the quickest cars around the track, and with the German manufacturer winning eight of the last nine Grand Prix’s stretching back into last season, as well as six of seven here on British soil since 2013, it’s extremely hard to look past them again and Hamilton gets our backing, even if the price remains short.

Alexander Albon Top 3 Finish

Red Bull bring Simon Rennie, Daniel Riccardo’s former engineer into a trackside role for Alexander Albon.

The Thai racer came fourth and fifth in Styrian and Hungary respectively as he gets closer to pushing for a podium finish, and the addition of Rennie to his garage could give the extra little push he needs.

He’s currently at 5/1 for a podium finish and we’re happy to get behind the Red Bull driver to complete the podium in what looks to be a value bet.

Lewis Hamilton At 1/2

0.5 pts: Alexander Albon Top 3 Finish At 5/1
