Watford v Tottenham Preview And Betting Tips – Premier League

Change in fortunes for Watford since Nigel Pearson took over, the Hornets chasing a fourth consecutive league win when they welcome Tottenham in the early kick-off on Saturday in the Premier League. For Spurs it was job done midweek when they beat Boro in their FA Cup replay, however in the league they are looking to avoid a third straight loss. Tipsters Form Labs guide you to where the value might lie with their betting preview and tips for the game, while we have plenty of boosted markets and our Saturday 3PM Club offer which you can see below.

Recent Form

This Spurs side may need more work than Jose Mourinho would’ve imagined when he took the reins, as after the initial manager bounce they’ve looked extremely shaky, especially on the road as they’ve won just one of their last six trips across all competitions, including stalemates at Carrow Road and the Riverside.

Moreover, they lost when visiting the St Mary’s Stadium in their last such Premier League fixture and with Watford coming into some form of their own, this will be anything but a straightforward victory for the Lilywhites.

Indeed, Hornets’ 3-0 thrashing of Bournemouth has lifted them out of the relegation zone for the first time this season, partly helped by City’s 6-1 demolition of Villa to drop Dean Smith’s men into the bottom three.

The hosts have now picked up 13 points from six games under new boss Nigel Pearson, which is even more impressive considering they’ve faced four of the top seven in this run, with victories over Man Utd and Wolves, whilst their solitary defeat came against runaway league leaders Liverpool, showing they can more than match Spurs.

Watford Over 1.5 Team Goals

Pearson seems to be getting the best out of his forward players as all of Gerard Deulofeu, Troy Deeney, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Ismaila Sarr have found the net at least twice since his arrival, while his side have netted a total of 11 goals in their last five (they’d scored just nine from their opening 17 matches).

In fact, with Spurs keeping just one clean sheet in 10 games under the ‘Special One’, while they’ve conceded at least twice in eight of their 11 road trips under both him and Mauricio Pochettino, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a goal or two for the high flying hosts.

Injury concerns seem to have hampered the Lilywhites recently, not least with the loss of talisman Harry Kane.

They’ve failed to score in their last two appearances this season, while with England’s captain out of the starting lineup they’ve now only won one of the last seven, failing to register a single goal in four.

We’re therefore surprised to see Watford priced up at such a big price, especially considering that only Liverpool have more than their 13 points across their last five matches, as they’ve scored 11 goals and conceded just twice in that time.

Furthermore, Spurs have conceded the first goal of the game in each of their last five outings now, whilst the men from Vicarage Road have inflicted the first blow in all their last five, and that’s enough for us to get behind them in the outright market.

Ismaila Sarr To Score Anytime

With goals likely for the hosts, the four aforementioned players all have a case to be made for them, though it’s Sarr that grabs our attention.

The Senegalese youngster has flourished so far under Pearson, with two goals and three assists in his last five, and his displeasure at being taken off without scoring at the weekend was evident for all to see, so he’ll be desperate to get on the scoresheet again and he looks well priced to do so.

Watford To Beat Spurs At 11/5

Watford Over 1.5 Team Goals At 6/4

Ismaila Sarr To Score Anytime At 13/5
