The early kick off on Saturday looks set to be yet another very important clash for Watford as they’re still sandwiched by West Ham and Bournemouth in 16th and 18th respectively in in the relegation dogfight.
Their defeat at Selhurst Park last weekend has really stunned them, but this can sometimes be expected after the euphoria of beating league leaders Liverpool.
Leicester looked to be in a serious slump before Monday night when they put on a show for their home supporters. Harvey Barnes and Jamie Vardy were the stars as they grabbed two goals apiece, while that was Vardy’s first goal in eight appeanreces and he’ll certainly be mightily relieved to have put that spell behind him.
Brendan Rodgers’ men will know the importance of another victory this Saturday, but given the inconsistency both sides here have displayed, it’s a little difficult to know which will arrive better prepared.
The Hornets may well be toward the lower extremities of the Premier League table, but they have gone a respectable W4-D1-L1 at Vicarage Road under Nigel Pearson, keeping their opposition out in four of them and they’ll be extremely hard to get past in this one.
Moreover, those victories came against Man Utd, Villa, Wolves and the Reds who went into that game unbeaten in 43 league games, while that sole defeat was very unfortunate as a 10-man Everton side got a lucky breakaway goal to seal victory.
Watford And Leicester To Draw
Excluding the top six sides at the head of the table, Leicester have gone W16-D1-L3 from their 20 outings, including an impressive seven wins from nine trips.
However, they are now winless from their last three on their travels against all teams, losing at Burnley and Norwich whilst drawing with Wolves, so it’ll be interesting to see how much their recent victory spurs them on in this one.
It should however be noted that Wilfred Ndidi didn’t start any of those road games and in the 20 the Nigerian international has been in from the off this term, the Foxes have lost on only four occasions, as these came against Man Utd, Liverpool (twice) and Man City.
By contrast, in the nine he failed to start, they’ve gone a mere W3-D2-L4 as three of those defeats came against Southampton, Burnley and the Canaries, as it’s clear to see the impact that he makes.
The last three times Leicester have come to Vicarage Road they’ve lost exactly 2-1 since 2016/17. That doesn’t bode well for this one, but we’re more confident of their chances this time around, especially since in their title winning 2015/16 season they won here 1-0. We’d have to go the way of the draw in this one in what will be a game of fine margins.
