Watford have enjoyed a remarkable resurgence under Nigel Pearson but have had their wings clipped slightly with a defeat away at Villa, as well as at League One outfit Tranmere when fielding a second-string side.
However, that latter result won’t bother Pearson particularly with the focus on survival, and with three wins from four unbeaten home league games under the new man in charge, the Hornets will feel they stand every chance of getting something from this clash.
The Toffees have long been better at Goodison Park and this season is no different. Indeed, they’d be sixth in a table based upon home results and 16th on away results. They’ve lost over half of their road trips since 2017/18 (W10-D14-L26), while going back a season further they’ve lost all three visits to Vicarage Road.

It’s not as though Everton have even done well against the weakest sides this term, losing half of their eight encounters with the bottom six in the table, who are in danger of being cut adrift from the rest of the division.
That includes defeats on the road to Villa, Bournemouth and Brighton, and given Watford have lost just twice in their past 10 home games now, they appear good value on the draw no bet.

Although Pearson deserves huge credit for breathing life into the Hornets, he has certainly benefited from the return of captain Troy Deeney from injury.
His last seven appearances have yielded five goals, which becomes four strikes from three games when restricted to bottom-half opponents.
Everton possess just three clean sheets from their last 16 appearances across all competitions, so there’s plenty of reason to think Deeney can keep up his current form.
It looks like Ismaila Sarr might not quite be ready to make a return in this fixture which is a blow for the hosts, but they do have both Danny Welbeck and Will Hughes returning.
That certainly strengthens the squad and makes healthy competition for places throughout the starting line-up.
In fact, they’ve won two of their last three unbeaten outings when Hughes has featured, including victories in both his outings here at Vicarage Road under Pearson.
