Spain v Portugal Betting Tips – International Friendly

Both sides have strong ambitions of going all the way this summer at the Euros, and will be encouraged having each won three of their past four unbeaten matches. With Spain’s last friendly before the tournament against Lithuania and Portugal facing Israel, this is the last chance for both teams to test themselves against high-level opponents and their big hitters should be on display. Tipsters Form Labs guide you to where the value might lie with their betting tips for the game, while we have some additional value with our boosted odds which you can claim below.

Recent Form

Despite teams being allowed 26-man squads this summer, Spanish boss Luis Enrique has only named 24 players and of course the major headline is the absence of any Real Madrid players.

That includes veteran defender Sergio Ramos, who has struggled with injuries in recent months, as Man City’s French-born centre-back Aymeric Laporte has been preferred.

Spain have only lost once in 22 appearances dating back to November 2018, but while they kicked off this spell with seven consecutive wins, they’re just W7-D7-L1 since then.

A 6-0 hammering of Germany in October hints at their attacking prowess, but that’s one of only three times across their past nine outings where they’ve scored more than once, with the other occasions against lesser lights Georgia (2-1) and Kosovo (3-1) in their most recent outings.

Similarly, Portugal have suffered defeat twice in 27 matches since the 2018 World Cup and just once in the last 13. That recent loss was inflicted by France in November by a narrow 1-0 scoreline and as ever, they’re a tough nut to crack.

Under 2.5 Goals

Portugal are an even W2-D6-L2 against elite sides France, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Italy since the start of Euro 2016, as a massive eight of those encounters saw just a single goal or none at all.

When including results against the likes of decent outfits Croatia, Poland, Mexico, Chile, Switzerland and Uruguay, they’re W7-D13-L3 over this period, as 15 out of 23 featured a maximum of two goals.

Spain And Portugal To Draw

Prior the 6-0 win over Germany, La Roja’s previous three encounters with elite sides all ended in stalemates, as they shared the spoils with Germany, Portugal and the Netherlands.

There’s very little to separate the two sides here and the head-to-heads would also suggest the draw is worth backing here.

Eight of 12 meetings since 1983/84 have ended in a draw, as they’ve shared an even W2-D8-L2 record over this period.

All three clashes since 2012 have resulted in stalemates, with two of them goalless, most recently facing each other in another friendly in October.
