Southampton v Leicester Betting Tips – Premier League Week 34

Southampton and Leicester kick-off week 34 of the Premier League when they clash at St Mary’s on Friday night. With four losses from their last five games, Southampton have been in freefall and although they have probably done enough to avoid relegation, Ralph Hasenhüttl will want his team to finish the season strong and give him a stay of execution. Contrastingly the Foxes are in great shape, looking for a third consecutive win, a result that will edge them closer to Champions League football next season. Tipsters Form Labs guide you to where the value might lie with their betting tips for the game, while we have additional value with our boosted odds which you can claim below.

Recent Form

Leicester came from a goal down hosting Crystal Palace on Monday night, and will have a short turnaround before they face Saints on Friday to strengthen their grip on the top four places.

Back-to-back wins now have set them up nicely as they currently sit seven points clear of fifth placed West Ham with five games to go, which should ease fears of a repeat of last year as they were only three points clear of fifth at this stage then.

Southampton suffered the opposite fate to the Foxes last week as having been a goal up at the break, goals from Gareth Bale and a last gasp penalty from Son-Heung Min gave Spurs all three points and inflict a third defeat on the bounce in all competitions for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, one of which came against Leicester themselves not two weeks ago in the FA Cup semi-final, with the midlands side snapping up a 1-0 win there.

That was the second win over Saints this season for Leicester, though they’ve not managed to do the Premier League double over them in any of their last nine attempts, with the most recent coming in the 1999/00 season.

We doubt that will be on the players’ mind here at all though with Champions League qualification the priority and there’s no reason to think they won’t do it.

Leicester To Win And Both Teams To Score

The Foxes have won nine of 10 matches this season up against the current bottom six sides, with their only two defeats on the road all season coming against top six opponents West Ham and Liverpool, winning all five of their road trips to that bottom six crop, and we’d expect them to make that a clean sweep here, especially with the form some of their attacking players are in.

Kelechi Iheanacho is on fire at the moment with 12 goals in his last nine appearances, netting in all but one of those and while Jamie Vardy is going through something of a dry spell in front of goal, he looked incredibly sharp against Palace and it won’t be long before he gets back on the scoresheet either.

Southampton have lost all five matches against the current top three, conceding a whopping 20 goals across those games, while Leicester have scored at least twice in all five of those away matches against teams propping up the table.

While we’d expect Brenden Rogers’ charges to come away with a crucial three points when considering their upcoming fixtures, we wouldn’t be convinced of the away clean sheet with the south coast side netting in five of their last six matches and Leicester keeping just two clean sheets in eight.
