Slavia Prague v Rangers Betting Tips – Europa League Last 16, 1st Leg

The business end of the Europa League couldn’t have been timed better for Steven Gerrard and his Rangers team. After securing their first Scottish Premiership title since 2010/11, the Gers can now go all out in the Europa League beginning with their last 16, 1st leg tie with Slavia Prague on Thursday. With nine goals and six assists from 17-games in Europa this season, Alfredo Morelos will be the go-to man for Rangers in their bid to get ahead early in the tie. Rangers will want to finish their league campaign unbeaten, but having secured the title already, can focus their efforts on European success.

They haven’t had much bother balancing an assault on two fronts this season, and with just the solitary defeat in 44 appearances across all competitions now (W37-D6-L1), look a tidy price to get something from this clash.

Steven Gerrard’s men can ill-afford to underestimate their Czech hosts however. Slavia Prague are a hugely impressive W20-D4-L1 since late October, with that sole defeat inflicted by German outfit Bayer Leverkusen.

They’ve won 13 of 16 unbeaten matches since that encounter back in December, and while the level of opposition they’ve faced has largely been weaker domestic opponents, they did overcome Leicester in the last round to demonstrate they’re no pushovers.

Over 2.5 Goals

Firepower isn’t a concern for the hosts. Even excluding domestic cup results, where they recently thrashed a third-tier outfit 10-3, they’ve still netted at least twice in 15 of 20 appearances, and at least three times in 12 of these.

Although Rangers hold an astonishing defensive record this term, registering 24 clean sheets from 32 league games, they’ve certainly been more prone to conceding goals in Europe.

Both teams scored at least twice in five of their last six in this competition, as these games saw a combined 31 goals.

In the last round alone they shared a pair of seven-goal thrillers with Royal Antwerp, so there’s good reason to back a high output in this clash.

Rangers Draw No Bet

Indeed, six of Slavia Prague’s last nine in Europe have featured at least three goals, as five of these games saw a minimum of four strikes.

Their pair of clean sheets against Leicester hint at a resolute backline, but it’s hard to see Rangers failing to land a telling blow here.

Steven Gerrard’s side have scored at least twice in all six road trips in Europe this term, and although they plundered nine against Lincoln Red Imps and Willem II in qualifiers, their combined 11 goals in trips to Standard Liege, Benfica, Lech Poznan and Antwerp suggests they won’t struggle to carve out chances.

Alfredo Morelos To Score Anytime

With goals on the agenda, Alfredo Morelos stands out to register on the board at some stage. The Colombian has stepped up in the second half of the campaign and played a pivotal role in the previous round against Antwerp, with six assists and a goal across the two legs.

He has seven goals from his last nine appearances overall, including a strike in each of his past four, while he’s bagged nine goals in this tournament since the start of last season.
