Sheffield United v Everton Preview And Betting Tips

At the start of the season newly promoted Sheffield United would have had ambitions to remain in the Premier League, however it is unlikely that European football would have been discussed within the dressing room. Fast forward to week 37 and Chris Wilder’s team sit 8th and will be targeting 6-points from their final two games to give them a chance of automatic qualification. On Monday night they welcome Everton who will also be looking to finish strongly in the top 10. Tipsters Form Labs guide you to where the value might lie with their betting preview and tips, while Neil Mellor and Frank Sinclair give their verdict ahead of the Monday games.

Recent Form

A defeat away at Leicester ended any faint Champions League hopes Sheffield United might have entertained, though they remain firmly in the hunt for a shock Europa League spot having been one of the sides heavily tipped for relegation last summer.

Meanwhile, Everton broke Villa hearts as a late Theo Walcott equalizer maintained their unbeaten home record under Carlo Ancelotti, though it was hardly an inspired performance and their away form definitely needs some work.

The Toffees have gone W3-D1-L5 on the road under the Italian, though they’re yet to beat a top-half side with the three victories coming over Norwich, Watford and Newcastle.

The latter was during their manager bounce phase and they’ve only managed one goal in their last 405 minutes of football on the road, coming against the Canaries. That’s not the kind of output you’d want when visiting Bramall Lane to face the joint-second best defence in the league.

Sheffield United To Beat Everton

Indeed, the Blades actually have something to play for here while Ancelotti and his staff will already have one eye on plans for next season.

This is a must-win game for Chris Wilder if they want to qualify for Europe, and his side have good momentum on home soil heading into this.

They’ve won five of their last six unbeaten matches here, including four on the bounce against Norwich, Spurs, Wolves and Chelsea, so we’re surprised to see them so long here and we’re happy to get behind them.

Sheffield United To Win To Nil

The hosts haven’t conceded more than a single strike in any of their last 10 home games now, conceding just once in the last four against ‘Big Six’ side Spurs, leaving the win to nil a very attractive proposition too.

It’s paid out in over half of their 11 home games against sides 9th and below in the table, and on current form there looks to be serious value in that. One possible hindrance is the return of Theo Walcott to the side for the visitors.

Everton’s goals per game nearly doubles this season with the former England International in the side from a measly 0.86 per game in the 21 he’s failed to start, compared to 1.6 in the 15 he has.

We’re still keen to throw half a point on it however, considering the former Arsenal man also started in their 3-0 defeat away at Wolves, while his header against Villa was the Toffees’ only shot on target.

One aspect the Blades have failed with this year is their lack of a talisman. Oli McBurnie has only provided goals fleetingly and failed to pick up momentum, Lys Mousset has scored once since early December, while David McGoldrick’s recent brace against Chelsea were his first Premier League goals this season and we wouldn’t expect Everton’s defence to be as shambolic.

Eight of Sheffield Utd’s last 11 goals have come from different sources, so we’re going to ignore the goalscorer market on this occasion.

Sheffield United To Beat Everton At 6/5

0.5 pts: Sheffield United To Win To Nil At 21/10
