While there’s been a lot of talk of Man City being off the pace this season by their standards, they still sit in the top half of the Premier League and just three points off fourth and with a game in hand on the majority of the league.

They also sit top of this Champions League group having already qualified for the last 16, though they’ll want to finish top and a point here will be good enough to do that.

City have won all six of their cup matches this season and have won five of their last seven across all competitions. While their defence is often called into question under Guardiola, owing to their expansive, attacking football, it’s actually been one of their main assets so far this campaign.

Indeed, they’ve conceded just three times across their last eight matches, with all three coming against the top two in the league, Spurs and Liverpool. Seven of their last eight victories have come to nil, including each of their last five, though in truth the exception came in the reverse fixture of this at the Etihad, and there’s a case for Porto to get at least a goal again here on home soil.

Under 2.5 Goals

Since the 3-1 defeat to City in the reverse fixture, the Portuguese outfit have won six of seven matches and have looked extremely solid at the back too, conceding just once across those six victories.

While City are still the stronger side and should go on to win this contest, the reason we’re unsure of their capability to keep a clean sheet here is the fact that Porto have scored in all 12 of their matches so far, scoring two or more in five of their six home games.

While both are regarded as highly attacking teams, we’ve already seen this season that doesn’t necessarily mean goals as they can cancel each other out over the ninety minutes.

A draw here will satisfy the needs of both, so we can’t see either throwing players forward late on and pushing for the win, especially with the condensed fixture list at the moment taking it’s toll on some players.

While there’s a fair few players in good goalscoring form for the visitors at the moment, with each of Gabriel Jesus, Ferran Torres, Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling finding the net at least once in the last seven matches, they all look too short in the market this time round against a side who are conceding very few at this moment in time, and we’ll stick with an odds-against ‘Unders’ bet for this clash.

Under 2.5 Goals At 11/10
