Norwich v Southampton Preview And Betting Tips – Premier League

Norwich and Southampton clash at Carrow Road on Saturday with both sides in need of points. The hosts especially are seemingly heading back down to the Championship, however a string of decent results could see them have a fighting chance. As for Southampton, they are looking to avoid a third straight loss, however the three points will see them move to within touching distance of the top half of the table. Tipsters Form Labs guide you to where the value might lie with their betting preview and tips, while we have plenty for you with our 3PM Club Offer and boosted odds Max Bet £10 for another weekend of top-flight football.

Recent Form

Half of Norwich’s remaining 10 fixtures across all tournaments are against either ‘Big Six’ opponents or Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton, so their chances of survival are looking very slim and they really need to capitalize on Southampton’s poor form.

The visitors have lost five of their last six outings in all competitions, but while the first two of these came on the road at Liverpool and Spurs, subsequent defeats against Burnley, West Ham and Newcastle show they can be gotten at.

Although Danny Ings is now three games without a goal as the Saints failed to score hosting the Magpies last time out, it’s at the other end where there’s greater concern.

13 goals have been shipped across these recent six matches, including three on the road at West Ham in their last away day, so we can certainly see the Canaries getting onto the scoreboard.

Indeed, Daniel Farke’s men have scored in all but two of their 14 home games this term, with one of the exceptions when Liverpool came to town.

Meanwhile, both teams have scored in 10 of Southampton’s last 13 on their travels across all competitions, as well as five of their last seven when facing the six teams below themselves in the table at all venues.

That includes the reverse of this fixture, where Ralph Hasenhuttl celebrated a year in charge with a 2-1 win that temporarily lifted the Saints outside the relegation zone.

We couldn’t back them to repeat that feat away from St. Mary’s in poor form though, especially with suspended midfielder Moussa Djenepo joining the injured Nathan Redmond on the sidelines.

Both Teams To Score

Danny Ings is clearly the key goal threat for this Saints side, but beyond him only James Ward-Prowse, the absent Djenepo, Jack Stephens and Shane Long have produced as many goals or assists combined in all competitions this term as Redmond.

The 26-year-old’s four-game absence hasn’t been covered with great success, and the loss of their winger Djenepo reduces that further.

The Canaries have shown the odd success against bottom-half outfits, but a W3-D3-L7 record over the course of the season isn’t exactly encouraging.

However, the most recent three saw them draw with Palace and Newcastle, as well as beat Bournemouth.

Eight of the 13 matches in total did come on their travels though, and given they’ve only lost two of five such games here at Carrow Road, scoring in four of these but also conceding in four as well, this should prove a close contest.
