Newcastle v Burnley Preview And Betting Tips – Premier League

Burnley’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth last time out ensured they have now accumulated 13-points from their last five games, a run of form that has seen them move into the top-half of the table and in contention for a European spot. Next up for Sean Dyche’s team is a trip to Newcastle who are looking to avoid a third straight loss. Shaun Goater and Stan Petrov give their video predictions which you can watch below, while tipsters Form Labs guide you to where the value might lie with their betting preview and tips. Recent Form

Although the Clarets have taken just one point from two games away at Newcastle, they can approach this encounter with a degree of comfort after back-to-back wins over Southampton and Bournemouth.

That’s left them in 10th place, level on points with Arsenal, and they’re well and truly out of the relegation picture now with a 12-point lead over the drop zone.

Newcastle currently enjoy breathing space with half that cushion and will hope they can pick things up at St. James’ Park following defeats on the road to Arsenal and Palace.

The Magpies failed to score in either of those trips and have found the net in just one of their last five now.

That came away at Oxford Utd in an FA Cup replay, while the first two games during this spell produced goalless stalemates hosting the League One side and basement dwellers Norwich.

Newcastle are the division’s joint-bottom goalscorers alongside Palace, Watford and the Canaries, and even on home turf where they’ve been better, they’ve only managed 12 goals from 13 league games.

Both Teams To Score (No)

This doesn’t look like it’ll be a high-scoring affair with four of the five encounters since 2017/18 featuring fewer than three goals.

Newcastle’s recent form would suggest that one side or the other will fail to score, with that happening in four of their last five top-flight outings, as well as four of their last five just at home.

Meanwhile, at least one team has drawn a blank in 13 of Burnley’s past 17 games, including seven of eight on the road. Given the last two head-to-heads saw Newcastle win 2-0 at this venue and Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor in December, that appears a solid play.

Indeed, the team news only makes that more likely with Burnley missing Ashley Barnes, while top scorer Chris Wood is also a doubt.

However, Steve Bruce has a whole string of absentees to deal with, as Valentino Lazaro, Paul Dummett, Jetro Willems, Emil Krafth, Ciaran Clark, Andy Carroll, Jonjo Shelvey, Javier Gaitan and Christian Atsu are all unavailable or doubtful.

Shelvey has a small chance of making the cut and Bruce will have his fingers crossed given the midfielder is their top scorer this term, as they’ve lost six of their last 10 winless league games where he hasn’t played more than just a single half.

Burnley Draw No Bet

Burnley have actually won four of their last five unbeaten Premier League outings, despite having faced Leicester, Man Utd and Arsenal, but they’ve still had their best spell in front of goal all season as they scored at least twice in each of those victories.

Against those below them in the table, they’ve won nine of 14 games this term and they look a big price to get something from this one. However, given Steve Bruce’s side have only lost three of 13 at St. James Park this term, we’ll take some cover and back them draw no bet.
