Recent Form

A draw on Man Utd’s return to action at Spurs’ new ground in North London isn’t the worst of returns, especially seeing as it was ex-manager Jose Mourinho they had to go up against.

They can take some positives too having had the much better chances in the final 25 minutes when both Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba were allowed to express themselves together.

The same can’t quite be said for Sheffield Utd. Steve Bruce’s Newcastle took them to the cleaners at the weekend 3-0, and after a goal line technology fault prior to that at Villa Park, they have just one point from two games which isn’t the form they need to earn Champions League football for next term.

Of course, a red card for John Egan in the 50th minute with the scores all equal tells you all you need to know about that Newcastle trip, but it certainly won’t do their confidence any good.

Manchester United To Win To Nil

The Red Devils remain unbeaten across their last 12 in all competitions now (W8-D4), securing impressive wins against the likes of Chelsea and Man City in the league, with the latter their last opponents at Old Trafford.

Nine clean sheets were collected over this period and in fact, five of their eight league victories here this season have seen them keep their opposition out, including all three in 2020 so far.

When throwing a Europa League matchup with Club Brugge into the mix, United haven’t conceded at this venue for 394 minutes now.

The visitors have however struggled to get on the scoreboard on their travels, only once scoring more than a single strike since October.

That came against rock-bottom Norwich, while they have just two goals now from their last six trips, including 2-0 defeats with both top sides they faced during that period – Liverpool and the Citizens.

One thing Chris Wilder’s men can be almost guaranteed to do though is to keep proceedings tight, especially given how important this game is for both sides’ seasons.

Indeed, that defeat to the Magpies is the first time they’ve lost by more than two goals all season, while other than that and those defeats to the runaway top two, they remain unbeaten on the road.

Anthony Martial To Score First

No Man Utd player has more goals than Anthony Martial’s five from his last six games at this stadium. He’s only failed to score on two such occasions in that run, which in fact were also the only two that the hosts failed to score in too.

You get the feeling that if anyone is going to register on the scoreboard it’ll be him and with the last of them the first strike of the game when City visited, we’re happy to get behind him to do that yet again.
