Manchester United v Real Sociedad – Europa League Round Of 32, 2nd Leg

A superb 4-0 win in Spain in the 1st leg of their Europa League tie with Real Sociedad has effectively put Manchester United through to the last 16. The hosts are unbeaten in their last 14 Europa League matches at Old Trafford and with the advantage, one expects Solskjaer could give some of the youngsters a run out in this one. Tipsters Form Labs guide you to where the value might lie with their betting tips for the game, while we have plenty of additional value with our midweek boosted odds which you can claim below.

Recent Form

Man Utd are in complete control of this tie following a 4-0 win in the first leg, played in Turin, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to ring the changes with his side still competing in the FA Cup and challenging well in the league.

Leaders Man City look uncatchable, but second place would hint at a brighter future for the Red Devils, while there’s plenty of work to do to seal Champions League football next season with fifth-placed Chelsea just six points adrift.

Indeed, the Blues are their weekend opponents, while their next seven league fixtures also includes trips to Man City, Leicester and Tottenham.

Real Sociedad are going strong in fifth place domestically, but they’ll be deeply disappointed with their performance in the first leg.

They’ve endured a tough run of form with former Man City midfielder David Silva out injured, but though their league results have picked up since he’s returned to the fold, he was unable to help them last week as he played the full 90 minutes.

The Spanish outfit have recovered well to beat Alaves 4-0 at the weekend, with a hat-trick from Alexander Isak, but Imanol Alguacil’s side don’t tend to keep too many clean sheets.

They’ve managed just four in 17 appearances, coming against Athletic Bilbao, Cordoba, Getafe and Alaves, so United’s fringe players should have chances to score.

Paul Pogba is out injured and Harry Maguire is a yellow card away from suspension, while Scott McTominay, Donny van de Beek and Edinson Cavani are all fitness doubts, so we’d be surprised if any of them featured.

United do have some depth to their squad, but with the changes in personnel, we wouldn’t be surprised by a disjointed performance.

Still, United have lost just twice in 21 fixtures over 90 minutes (W12-D7-L2), with one of those a defeat to Man City and the other a shock slip-up against Sheffield Utd.

It also remains to be seen what kind of side Real Sociedad put out, with little hope of advancing further in this tournament.

With Sociedad poor at keeping clean sheets as it is, while United’s back-up options are stronger in attack, we can see goals here with defences less organized.

There’s been at least four goals in five of Sociedad’s last seven outings, while the same has occurred in four of United’s last six, so goals so be on the agenda.
