Recent Form

Leicester reached the quarters of the FA Cup on Wednesday night and are now set to make their second appearance at that stage of the tournament in just three attempts.

It was by no means a forgone conclusion though, as an in-form Birmingham outfit took the game to them, but Ricardo Pereira headed a late winner to set up a last eight showdown against Chelsea.

Villa can certainly take confidence in their League Cup final defeat to Man City as it went down the wire.

Bjorn Engels nearly took the game to extra time after his effort was turned onto the woodwork expertly by Claudio Bravo, but the Citizens still prevailed to lift their third straight League Cup.

That result means the Clarets have now lost four straight matches and are struggling for confidence, especially with one of those a must-win game against an out-of-sorts Bournemouth team.

It has hardly been an easy ride for Brendan Rodgers’ side either in recent times, with their solitary victory in six weeks now coming against that Championship side.

Indeed, a five-game winless spell included defeats at Norwich and Villa themselves, so both sides will fancy their chances of taking the spoils.

Leicester To Win And Both Teams To Score

However, one factor that certainly has to play a part in this one is the return of Wilfred Ndidi. The midfielder made his first start in a month against Pep Clotet’s Blues following his knee injury and it didn’t came as a surprise that the Foxes went on to win.

In the league alone the Nigerian has failed to start just nine matches this season, with his side going a poor W3-D2-L4 across those, losing to all of Man City, the Canaries, Burnley and Southampton, while with him this drastically improves.

Indeed, in the 19 he’s started, they’ve gone W12-D3-L4 as these defeats came against Liverpool (twice) and both Manchester clubs, whilst they’ve conceded nearly 30% fewer strikes on average too.

Leicester To Win 2-1

Dean Smith’s men have a woeful league record against the ‘Big Six’ and Leicester this season, losing eight of nine winless outings, although they did still score in all but one of those and also came within a single-goal margin in four of those losses.

Indeed, they’ve only failed to score in one of 11 outings across all competitions in 2020 so far, while on the road, they’ve netted in eight of their last 11 since November.

Interestingly, eight of these also saw both sides get on the scoreboard as over a third (4) finished exactly 2-1 to Villa’s opponents and that could well be on the cards again.

Both Teams To Score

The Foxes have conceded in each of their last six league matches at the King Power, whilst they’ve plundered exactly two goals in five of their last seven victories there, as nearly half finished 2-1.

Couple that with the fact that both sides have dealt a blow to one another in seven of their eight head-to-heads across all competitions since 2014/15, including all three this term, and we certainly fancy the chances of a few goals going in.
