Undoubtedly the highlight clash of the weekend sees second play sixth as high flying Istanbul attempt to further their challenge for the title.
They currently sit level on points with top of the league Trabzonspor, who will be playing away at eighth-placed Goztepe at the same time, and they’ll be confident of their chances here.
Having tasted defeat in their opening two games, the side from the Capital have only lost one of their subsequent 24, which came away at Fenerbahce (who have done the double over them this season).
On the other hand, Alanyaspor have only won once in their last six games, losing half of them and not scoring more than once in any, so on the surface this looks like a pretty straightforward result.
Indeed, the hosts have won five on the bounce at home, scoring 16 goals across that time and three or more in all but one game, with the exception coming against Besiktas in a 1-0 win.
Six of their nine victories at home this year have come by at least two clear goals, though without a home crowd to spur them on it’s difficult to gauge how much of an effect that will have on either side.
Istanbul Basaksehir To Win
What can’t be questioned is the amount of talent on display for Istanbul, with familiar names running throughout the side.
Demba Ba is top scorer for Basaksehir with nine goals in his last 10 matches, Martin Skrtel has been holding his own in the heart of defence, despite an own goal last weekend, while former Napoli playmaker Gokhan Inler will surely be pulling the strings from the middle of the park.
The talented squad has paid dividends all season long and we don’t expect the behind-closed-doors nature of this one to impact that too heavily.
That leaves the home win the most viable option, considering the visitors have only won once in the last seven head-to-heads since they were promoted to the top flight ahead of the 2016/17 season.
