Recent Form

An impressive end to the 2019/20 Championship campaign saw Fulham earn their place in the playoffs with five wins from their final seven unbeaten outings.

They then went on to down Cardiff in the semis on aggregate (3-2) and a 2-1 victory in the final thanks to two extra time strikes from Joe Bryan to bounce straight back into the Premier League.

It doesn’t look like they’ll have time to settle back into the top flight of English football as they’ve got Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal first up.

The Gunners have already hit the ground running this season, beating Liverpool on penalties in the Community Shield to add to their FA Cup title they won against Chelsea back in August.

They won’t mind a trip across London in their opener either, as the last time they visited Craven Cottage they hammered them 5-1 with both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette getting a brace, while it was a similar 4-1 scoreline back at the Emirates as both those strikers netted again.

Of course, those results were nearly two years ago and neither management was in the dugout at the time, but make no mistake that some of the players will still remember.

Scott Parkers’ charges did have their struggles against the best of England’s second divisions last season. They went W1-D2-L3 against all of West Brom, Leeds and Brentford in the normal league season, failing to score in four of those six outings and that doesn’t look like the sort of form capable of toppling one of the better sides in the league.

They’ll be very excited to welcome back Andre-Frank Anguissa to the side in defensive midfield though, with him managing the third most successful dribbles in La Liga last term after both Lionel Messi and Nabil Fekir at an 83% success rate, and he should at least give last years’ Championship top scorer Alexander Mitrovic some go forward.

Arteta has been busy in the transfer market with the signing of defender Gabriel Magalhaes, winger Willian and the return of Dani Ceballos to the midfield and that should see his men go well this term.

Couple that with the permanent arrival of both Pablo Mari (CB) and Cedric Soares (RB) as well as William Saliba (CB), we’d be surprised if they still have the third worst defensive record in the top half of the table this campaign.

Arsenal To Win To Nil

The visitors may have won just two of their 10 road games under new management in the league, drawing four, but if we expand that to all competitions then it’s a much better W6-D4-L4, as they conceded just twice across those six victories.

Indeed, two of their defeats came against Man City and North London rivals Spurs, while draws at top half finishers Chelsea and Burnley aren’t the worst of results.

Interestingly, if we exclude the ‘Big Six’ sides and last seasons’ Leicester, Arsenal have kept a clean sheet in six of their last 10, including three of their last five trips and we think they should have enough about themselves to come away with the full three points and keep their opposition out under their new system.

Aubameyang To Score Anytime

Aubameyang is a rare talent and having netted three times from his two against the Cottagers, as well as six goals from his last four matches in all competitions when including last season and this years’ Community Shield.

His brace in the FA Cup final was a work of art and he’d be frustrated if he didn’t get his 2020/21 Golden Boot campaign off to a good start.

Arsenal To Win To Nil At 6/4

Pierre-Emerick Aubmeyang To Score Anytime At 4/6
