Despite most European leagues being suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Turkish league will still go ahead though behind closed doors.
Kayserispor, who currently prop up the table, will be desperate to try a claw their way back up before any ideas of finishing the season early start circulating.
Two victories from three matches so far this month means their prospects are looking up, and they’re not yet cut adrift from the teams directly above them that they need to catch.
Meanwhile, Fenerbahce have endured a torrid run of fixtures. They’ve lost four of six outings across all competitions, though two of those did come against Galatasaray and league leaders Trabzonspor, while only two of those total six fixtures came at their home stadium in Istanbul and so they can be slightly forgiven.
However, that led to the sacking of Ersun Yanal in the midst of that run, as they’ve since drawn and lost their most recent two fixtures under Zeki Murat Gole, so they’ll hope their form turns around for this one.
Both Teams To Score
It’s clear to see why the visitors are at such a long price considering Fenerbahce are W8-D2-L1 since late October at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, while Kayserispor have been the worst travellers in the league so far, losing 10 of 13 trips to date.
Their sole victory came over Denizlispor last month, who were in the midst of a run of five defeats from eight winless fixtures. However, Kayserispor have certainly shown an upturn in their form in recent months, going W3-D3-L2 since late January and netting 11 goals.
Moreover, they seem to have sussed out the Istanbul-based hosts in recent years, with a record of W4-D2-L1 in their seven meetings with Fenerbahce since the start of 2016/17, including victories in all three since the beginning of last term.
Max Kruse is out injured for Gole’s men and with the midfielder having a hand in 30% of their 46 league goals this season, they’ll surly be more limited in his absence.
Nonetheless, there’s still been a total of 34 goals across eight home games dating back to late October, with both sides scoring in all but one, though they’re winless from their three here since start of February.
However, Kayserispor are W1-L7 against the current top seven in the league as both sides scored in all but one, and so we’ll stick with both teams to score alone.
