A 2-0 defeat away to Chelsea ended Everton’s three game winning streak and put a dent in their hopes for top four, though they’re very much still in the hunt for those places and a win here would get them right back on track.
This is the first of three successive games at Goodison Park across all competitions for the Toffees, and in any other season that would pose a big opportunity for some good results though without fans in the ground, they’ve failed to maximise their home advantage this season and would be all the way down in 14th in a table based solely on home results.
Burnley won’t roll over easily and are far from safety this season despite an upturn in form since their horrendous start. That form has started to dip slightly as they’ve won just one of their last nine games as well as being dumped out of the FA Cup but Championship side Bournemouth.
That can be expected, however, considering the run of games they’ve had recently, and in truth they can actually consider the fact that their four points clear of the drop zone at this stage to be a success.
Indeed, they’re regularly picking up points and have lost just one of their last seven games, drawing with Leicester and Arsenal in their most recent outings.
In fact, their only defeats in 2021 have come against current top seven sides in Man City, Man United, Chelsea, West Ham and Spurs, though that leaves their chances here up in the air with Everton heading into the weekend in sixth.

We know chances will likely be limited for the hosts against a side that are defensively solid, though only Leicester 33% have a better chance conversion than the toffees’ 31%, and we’d expect them to eventually break down the Clarets’ backline.
