It’s been a good few weeks for United, winning 6-0 and 1-0 over Tranmere and Man City respectively in cup action, before a draw with Wolves and another win over Chelsea in the league.
Clean sheets in each will have been welcomed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and in fact eight of their last nine wins now have been accompanied by one, while they’ve kept seven in their last 10 matches, including against Wolves (three times), Man City and Chelsea.
It’s difficult to rely upon Brugge’s results against domestic opponents as a gauge of form. They comfortably lead the Belgian top flight, but three of their four defeats this season have come in Europe.
To be fair to them, finishing third in a group containing Real Madrid, PSG and Galatasaray was the best they could have hoped for, even if they achieved it with just three points as the highlight of their season was a stalemate at the Bernabeu.

Club Brugge haven’t enjoyed too much success hosting the better teams in Europe though. Since 2015/16, the best they’ve encountered would be Man Utd, Napoli, Leicester, Porto, Dortmund, Atletico, PSG and Real, but they lost all but one of these games and failed to score in six.
Given Porto (one of the weakest opponents from that sample) were one of the teams to concede a goal, we’d be surprised if United couldn’t shut out their hosts.
Man Utd are only W4-D3-L5 away in the Europa League since 2015/16, though the first four of these were defeats and they’ve been more effective since.
However, seven of the subsequent eight matches have seen fewer than three goals as United haven’t torn anyone apart, with a 2-0 win at Ukrainian outfit Zorya Luhansk their biggest margin of victory over this entire period.
Mason Greenwood To Score Anytime
Anthony Martial stepped up with an excellent header to open the scoring against Chelsea on Monday, but he remains infuriatingly inconsistent given his talents.
United have to continue making do without main man Marcus Rashford, and given they’ve scored more than twice in just two of 12 games now, we don’t expect them to run away with things.
Mason Greenwood has been United’s most prolific player in this competition with four goals and two assists from five appearances. These may have all been delivered at Old Trafford, but it’s only a matter of time before he grabs an away goal in Europe. Having remained on the bench at Stamford Bridge on Monday, he can expect to see decent game time here.
