Brighton v Crystal Palace Preview And Betting Tips – Premier League

Crystal Palace's 1-0 win over Newcastle last weekend was much needed and ended a run of three consecutive losses, a result that also edged them further away from the relegation zone. As for Brighton their 1-1 draw away to Sheffield United was a decent result, however the fact that it is now three draws on the bounce leaves them just the four-points clear of the drop zone. Shaun Goater and Stan Petrov give their verdict which you can watch below, while expert tipsters Form Labs bring you their betting preview and tips for the game.

Neil Maupay came to Brighton’s rescue yet again in their trip to Bramall Lane last weekend, as they secured another point following his 30th minute strike to make the scores 1-1.

They showed fight to hold off a dogged Blades outfit over the 90 minutes, but they’ll be a little concerned that they’re yet to win a single game in 2020.

Meanwhile, Palace, who were suffering themselves from a winless run, managed to get over the line against Newcastle at Selhurst Park to give them their first three-pointer since beating West Ham on Boxing Day.

Roy Hodgson’s men have still drawn half their last eight outings though, including three of four on the road, but considering those four trips came at Southampton, Norwich, Man City and Everton, it’s hardly disastrous.

On the road alone, the Eagles have drawn over half their last nine trips, winning on only one occasion, and so they haven’t exactly given their travelling fans all that much to cheer about.

Brighton And Palace To Draw

The Seagulls have finished all square in five of their last seven winless fixtures as all of those stalemates finished with goals on the scoreboard.

That includes all three at Amex finishing exactly 1-1 over that period and given only Wolves have drawn as many as their six games at home this term, this fixture certainly looks like it could quite easily head that way.

Only Southampton, Leicester and Sheffield Utd have been able to walk away from Brighton’s backyard this season with maximum points, so we’re struggling to see how a misfiring Palace outfit are going to join that short list of teams.

Indeed, the likes of Spurs, Everton, Wolves and Chelsea to name a few have made the trip to the south coast and failed.

Brighton And Palace To Draw 1-1

Each of the visitors’ last five stalemates have finished with both sides getting on the scoreboard, while that has been the case in nine of Brighton’s 10 this term, as seven finished 1-1.

That includes the reverse fixture between these two back in December when Wilfred Zaha cancelled out the scores in the 76th minute, and this has got all the makings of another draw.

Hodgson will be pleased to see his treatment room finally emptying out, and with captain Luka Milivojevic returning to the fray following his absence through illness last weekend, he should cover for the doubtful Cheikhou Kouyate.

Graham Potter’s Dale Stephens still remains a doubt, but his absence only reinforces the chances of a draw, with four of the five games he’s missed ending at one goal apiece.

To further the argument for this to end in a stalemate, we only have to look at both sides’ respective form against fellow bottom-eight opponents.

The Seagulls’ form reads W2-D6-L2 since the second weekend of the season against such sides, while Palace are W2-D3-L1 over their last six such encounters dating back to early December.
