It’s been a tough couple of months in the Premier League for Bournemouth, though they’ll still be feeding off that victory over Chelsea.
Defeats on the road at Leicester, Arsenal, Newcastle, Spurs and Palace this season hasn’t exactly served them well, whilst they also crashed out to third-tier outfit Burton Albion in the League Cup by a 2-0 scoreline.
They may have fielded a rotated side on that occasion but it wasn’t a total second-string effort, with the likes of Simon Francis, Chris Mepham, Andrew Surman, Ryan Fraser, Lewis Cook and Dominic Solanke all starting, whilst Harry Wilson and Callum Wilson made appearances from the bench.
Brighton are hardly dominating the Premier League either though, as they’ve won only three of their nine outings at the Amex Stadium this term.
Given only one of those fixtures came against a ‘Big Six’ side, you feel they should’ve picked up a few more points.
Bournemouth Or Draw Double Chance
In fact, their three victories here came against struggling outfits Spurs under Mauricio Pochettino, Everton under Marco Silva and the relegation-bound Canaries and so we’re not convinced of their prospects.
Moreover, the Cherries hold the bragging rights in the head-to-heads, as they’ve won three of four unbeaten outings since the Seagulls were promoted to the Premier League for the 2017/18 campaign, with the last of them seeing Eddie Howe’s men obliterate them 5-0 at Amex.
This game has an extra bit of rivalry with both these teams being situated on the south coast.
Considering Bournemouth have now won half their six unbeaten outings against teams currently ranked below 12th in the table prior to the Boxing Day fixtures, including two of three on the road, they look the value option.
By contrast, Brighton have won just two of their past five against similar sides, losing to both Southampton (another south coast side) and Villa, so at the prices they look worth taking on.
