Belgium v Greece Betting Tips - International Friendly

Belgium begin their Euro preparations when they take on Greece on Thursday night. With just two warm-up games, the other being Croatia, before their opening game against Russia, Roberto Martinez will be looking for his team to build some momentum ahead of the summer showpiece and with Thierry Henry back in the fold, third favourites Belgium will be a tough proposition over the coming six weeks. Tipsters Form Labs guide you to where the value might lie with their betting tips for the game, while we have some additional value with our boosted odds which you can claim below.

Recent Form

Greece have surprisingly lost just once in 14 appearances now, though it’s worth noting that they haven’t faced the toughest of fixtures over this period.

They did manage a point away in Spain in their only encounter with a top side over this period, as recently as March, though having also drawn with the likes of Kosovo, Slovenia and Georgia since October, that appears something of a one-off result.

The Greeks will inevitably seek to contain, but although six of their last eight outings have seen fewer than three goals, it’s hard to imagine them holding the Red Devils at bay.

Indeed, Roberto Martinez’s side are W42-D8-L3 since the start of the qualifying campaign for the 2018 World Cup, winning 22 of 27 unbeaten home games over this period. 13 of those home wins came by at least a three-goal margin, though the head-to-heads between these two suggest a slimer margin of victory.

Greece have actually gone W3-D2-L2 in this fixture since 1990, while in the two most recent encounters back in 2017, they held on for a 1-1 draw in Belgium and went down 2-1 in the reverse fixture.

Belgium are of course capable of turning on the style, as they did last time out when thumping Belarus 8-0, though their previous fixture was a 1-1 draw with the Czech Republic, offering some semblance of hopes to their visitors here.

Belgium -1.75 Asian Handicap

Although Belgium have plenty of resources to cope with absentees on the whole, Kevin De Bruyne is arguably the best midfielder in the world and hard to replace.

After fracturing his nose and eye socket in the Champions League final, they’ll be sure to miss his creative instincts and ability to pick a pass against a deep-lying defence.

Meanwhile, although Eden Hazard has endured a torrid time at club side Real Madrid, he’s only just come back from yet another injury and is unlikely to be risked in this clash either.

Another star man who could be handed a rest is record scorer Romelu Lukaku, especially with Christian Benteke enjoying a fine spell of form at the end of the season for Crystal Palace.

The striker managed to score in each of his last four appearances at the tail end of the campaign, though could find himself behind Michy Batshuayi in the pecking order.

The latter has bagged 12 goals across his past nine starts for the national side, netting at least once in each of the last seven of those games.

Despite the potential absence of star men, there’s simply too much depth to Belgium and given their imperious record in home fixtures, it’s hard to make the case for Greek resistance.

John van ’t Schip has done a good job organizing the visitors and in particular their defence since taking over in July 2019, but with a lack of tests against top-level opposition, his side are likely to come unstuck in Brussels.
