After a good win from behind against Switzerland midweek, Belgium will be looking to have one foot in the finals with a victory here, which would also end England’s Nations League campaign for the year.

That’s a lot easier said than done though for the world’s number one ranked side, especially considering they lost to the Three Lions in the reverse fixture.

England are coming into this off the back of a 3-0 victory and though it was somewhat expected, the result still ended a six game winless drought against Ireland dating all the way back to the 1980s, a run they would have been desperate to end and they did so emphatically.

Gareth Southgate rested some of his stars, with the likes of Harry Kane and Jordan Henderson named on the bench, neither of whom were in the starting line-up for the 2-1 win over the Belgians a month ago and can an extra dimension to Gareth Southgate’s side this time round.

While Southgate has come under criticism in the media for being too reserved with his team choices, it has yielded results, especially at the back. Indeed, England have conceded just twice in nine matches now, with both goals coming from the penalty spot.

Even though Belgium have the likes of Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard to call on for this match, the Red Devils haven’t exactly been their prolific selves of late, scoring two or fewer in five of their last six matches.

Belgium To Beat England

That record speaks for itself and we can’t see England getting overrun even on the road, though we’re not comfortable backing a clean sheet considering Belgium have managed a goal in 23 consecutive matches dating back to the World Cup semi-final against France.

While the likes of Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling will be a loss for the hosts, Jack Grealish and Jadon Sancho provide ample firepower going forward, while Southgate has more than enough cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold at right back with Reece James putting in a fantastic performance there midweek.

For all the positives going in England’s favour, they were ultimately fortunate to get three points last time out and a similar performance this time won’t reap the rewards.

We’d expect Belgium to have a lot of the ball, much like they did in the first outing, and on home soil they should get the result they deserve and we’re inclined to back them on home soil at such a long price.
