Aston Villa v Liverpool Betting Tips – FA Cup 3rd Round

Aston Villa welcome Liverpool in one of two all-Premier League games which get the FA Cup 3rd round underway. Without a win in their last three games and off the back of a disappointing 1-0 loss to Southampton, Jurgen Klopp will expect a much-improved performance from his team at Villa Park, particularly in front of goal where they have been well short of their best. As for the hosts, they will without doubt be hoping for a repeat performance from the last time they crossed paths with their opponents! Tipsters Form Labs guide you to where the value might lie with their betting tips for the game, while as ever we have plenty of value with our FA Cup boosted odds which you can claim below.

Recent Form

Both sides saw their unbeaten runs ended in their last fixtures as Aston Villa went down at Man Utd and Liverpool toiled at Southampton.

Villa had previously won three of five matches as they registered four clean sheets, as only Chelsea were able to net against them.

3-0 wins over West Brom and Crystal Palace demonstrated there’s no concerns over their firepower this season, and indeed only Liverpool and Man Utd have registered more league goals per game so far.

The 1-0 defeat at St. Mary’s was the second time in a row where Liverpool have failed to score after a goalless stalemate with Newcastle, following on from just one goal in their draw with West Brom previously.

Liverpool have scored more than once in just three of their last 11 fixtures now as despite injuries at the back, it’s the forward department that’s misfiring at the moment.

In fact, Liverpool have had just seven shots on target across their past three outings and have failed to score in back-to-back league games for the first time since May 2018.

Sadio Mane’s 75th-minute effort was their sole shot on target last time out and they need to find their shooting boots quickly.

The visitors are just W2-D4-L1 over their past seven outings as the likes of Midtjylland and Fulham have also picked up points, while away from home they’ve won just once in seven outings as they drew five of these games.

Aston Villa +1 Handicap

Villa will certainly fancy their chances and will of course remember the 7-2 win over Jurgen Klopp’s men here at Villa Park back in October, and though they lost last time out at Old Trafford, they weren’t played off the park in the 2-1 defeat.

Dean Smith’s side have lost by more than a single goal in just one of 22 matches dating all the way back to July, and are well worth getting behind at the prices on the handicap.

Liverpool’s injury problems see no sign of getting better with a whole host of players missing. All three senior centre-back options are sidelined, as Klopp turned to another midfielder to plug the gap with Jordan Henderson playing alongside Fabinho at Southampton.

Thiago, Naby Keita, Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota are all unavailable too, whereas Dean Smith has better news with Ross Barkley close to returning as the Chelsea loanee could potentially feature here in some capacity.

The fixture list also presents a problem for Liverpool. Whereas Villa last played on Friday, Liverpool were in action on Monday night and have had three days less to recuperate ahead of this clash.

Aston Villa +1 Handicap At 5/6
