Recent Form
Arsenal’s hopes of salvaging their season went up in smoke on Thursday as they failed to find a goal hosting Villarreal in the Europa League, while domestically they’re destined for mid-table mediocrity.
Mikel Arteta is under serious pressure to keep his job and it will be interesting to see if he picks his absolute strongest side, as he may feel let down by some of his senior players, or alternatively hands opportunities to some youngsters with next season in mind.
Either way, there shouldn’t be wholesale changes and the team he selects should in theory have too much quality for their visitors to handle.
Indeed, Arsenal won the reverse fixture 4-0 at the Hawthorns, though it’s worth noting that Sam Allardyce hadn’t been in the job long at the time, and the Baggies are certainly a more competitive outfit now.
The Gunners have had issues when hosting the teams below them in the table as well, going W3-D3-L3 against such sides this term, as they’ve registered just two clean sheets from those fixtures.
West Brom Over 0.5 Goals
West Brom have only lost once in five appearances, but it’s been a case of too little too late and the Baggies are down and out to all intents and purposes.
They can only postpone the inevitable with a win here, but they failed to score in just one of those recent five appearances as they drew a blank away at Leicester and will surely give it a good go.
They registered 11 goals over this period, including five when visiting Chelsea, so there may be some value in backing them to find a breakthrough here.
Excluding results against the teams above Arsenal in the table, West Brom are W3-D5-L2 since mid-January, as they only failed to score in three of these games.
Arsenal have shut their opponents out in just two of 13 league games since February, against Sheffield Utd and Newcastle, so we’d back the visitors to find a goal from somewhere.
Matheus Pereira To Score Anytime
The man most likely to hit the target would surely have to be Matheus Pereira. He’s been in good form recently with four goals across West Brom’s past five outings, also providing a pair of assists, and is their only player to reach double figures for goals this season in all competitions.
West Brom Over 0.5 Goals At 8/11
0.5pts: Matheus Pereira To Score Anytime At 23/20
