Arsenal v Olympiacos Preview And Betting Tips – Europa League Round Of 32, 2nd Leg

An 81st minute goal from Alexandre Lacazette proved the difference for Arsenal in their Europa League 1st leg tie with Olympiacos. More importantly the away goal will at least give the Gunners some breathing space when they welcome the Greeks to the Emirates on Thursday, although one expects Mikel Arteta will want his team to put the tie to bed early with some first half goals. Expert tipsters Form Labs return with their betting preview and tips for the game while we have plenty on offer on our sportsbook and betting tips for all the top games on Thursday night which you can find here.

Recent Form

A dogged Arsenal performance at the weekend against Everton saw them hold on to their one-goal advantage to keep within touching distance of the European qualification places.

That result now means they still remain unbeaten from their 10 fixtures in 2020 and having won each of the last three now look in a very good vein of form.

Meanwhile, Olympiacos have built a five-point lead in the Greek Super League on Sunday with a win against second-placed PAOK, and they’ll now put all their efforts into keeping their European campaign going this Thursday.

The opening leg of this fixture saw the Greek outfit lose for just the second time in 21 outings at their home stadium this season, with that other defeat being inflicted by Bayern by just a one-goal margin in the Champions League group stages.

That’s an impressive feat seeing as the likes of Spurs, Red Star Belgrade, PAOK, Panathinaikos and AEK Athens have all attempted to overturn them, though unsurprisingly they haven’t had as much success against those better sides on the road.

They’re a mere W1-D2-L3 from their six such outings, with each of those defeats coming by two clear goals in their three European trips – Spurs, Bayern and Red Star Belgrade.

Mikel Arteta will be delighted with his charges having won three back-to-back fixtures now, while they’ve kept their opposition out in three of their last four.

In fact, they’ve won four of five unbeaten outings at Emirates in 2020, and although they lost 2-1 prior to that here against Chelsea, that should’ve gone the hosts’ way if it wasn’t for a horrible error from Bernd Leno when leading.

Arsenal -1 Handicap

The Gunners are W8-D1-L1 from their 10 European outings at this stadium since the start of last season, keeping six clean sheets and scoring twice or more on seven occasions and at least three times in six.

That proves how devastating they can be and although it should be noted that the majority of those sides they came up against in that run were below par standard, they still beat all of Rennes (3-0), Napoli (2-0) and Valencia (3-1).

Couple that record with the fact that Greek sides have lost six of seven trips to England since 2012/13 from the group stage onwards, with each of those defeats coming by at least two clear goals, and you begin to feel Arsenal look the side to be with.

Teams heading into a home second leg in European competition with a one-goal advantage may only have gone W7-D5-L3 since the start of 2017/18, but the majority of those poor results have come via the better sides putting up some resistance following a poor initial result.

Plus, we can’t see the visitors manging that given their form on the road in Europe reads a dismal nine defeats from 10 trips since 2017/18 from the group stages onwards, with seven of those coming by a minimum margin of two clear goals.

Arsenal -1 Handicap At 5/4
