Having won their opening two games of the season against Burnley and Newcastle themselves, the Gunners’ subsequent 23 matches have yielded just four victories, and they now possess as many wins as they’ve had managers dating back to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in late September.

A noticeable transition since Mikael Arteta’s appointment is the amount of goals in games. Only their two matches against Chelsea have seen three or more, with each of the remaining six featuring just two goals or less (including their match at Goodison where the Spaniard was an onlooker).
Steve Bruce’s men have seen the same outcome in three of four recent unbeaten games, and while they sit level on points, the priority for the Magpies this season is to avoid the drop so we can see them sitting back and defending narrow.
The Gunners have lacked the ability to break such teams down this season and with that game plan working a treat against Frank Lampard’s Blues less than a month ago for Newcastle, we can see this being a similarly frustrating night for the North London side and ‘Unders’ holds a healthy claim here.
Arsenal And Newcastle To Draw
Newcastle are now unbeaten in four despite playing top half teams in Everton, Chelsea and Wolves in that time. They did, however draw three of those matches, while their victory came in the dying seconds at home to Chelsea.
With the Gunners winning just once in their last nine at home, we’re struggling to see their value at such a short price. They’ve drawn their last four games and with no team in the league playing out as many stalemates this season, it looks incredible value for that to become five in a row.
With Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac still out, as well as winger Bukayo Saka likely absent through injury, the hosts’ options at left-back are slightly depleted.
The Gunners have drawn eight of their last 11 winless matches where Kolasinac has played under a half of football, while the more attacking Tierney would have increased productivity down that flank too.
Kolasinac is back in training, but this game should come too soon for him and he wouldn’t be at his sharpest in any case.
