Aberdeen v Rangers Betting Tips – Scottish Premiership Week 23

It may not have been a spectacle, however Callum McGregor’s 70th minute own goal in the Old Firm Derby is all that mattered to Steven Gerrard and the Ibrox faithful, as they now head into week 23 of the Scottish Premiership away to Aberdeen, 19-points clear of their rivals and with one hand firmly on their first title since 2010/11. That said Aberdeen have plenty to play for and can move to within just one point of Celtic if they get the result. Tipsters Form Labs guide you to where the value might lie with their betting tips for the game, while as ever we have plenty of value with our boosted odds which you can claim below.

Recent Form

Rangers well and truly have the wind in their sails following their Old Firm derby success, extending their lead at the top to a seemingly unassailable 19 points, albeit with Celtic holding three games in hand.

Steven Gerrard’s men were a tad fortunate in overcoming the Hoops for the third time in succession, especially as they held out under heavy pressure in the first half, but as ever they showcased a defensive resilience to weather the storm.

There’s unquestionably momentum behind Rangers after winning 21 of their last 24 in all competitions now, losing just once, as they’ve emerged victorious in 10 of their past 11.

Even away from home, the Gers have won 11 of their last 13 as one of the exceptions came away at Benfica in Europe, with nine of these resulting in win to nil’s.

Rangers To Win To Nil

In fact, each of Rangers’ past four outings home or away have seen them win without conceding, as they’ve rediscovered the art of keeping clean sheets in recent weeks.

A run of three consecutive games without one during December has been swiftly forgotten and in the league alone, the Gers have won 20 of 22 unbeaten matches this season, registering 18 clean sheets and 17 win to nil’s.

Although Rangers relentlessly march on, third-placed Aberdeen do represent a significant threat and they head into this fixture riding the wave of a six-game unbeaten streak (W3-D3).

However, it’s difficult to get too excited by this recent form as they didn’t face any of the runaway top four in the league over this period, while the last time they did, Rangers thumped them 4-0 at Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard has typically gotten the better of counterpart Derek McInnes, taking the win in four of six unbeaten head-to-heads with the Dons’ long-serving coach since April 2019.

Rangers reserved their biggest wins (4-0 and 5-0) for Ibrox, but they kept clean sheets in all but one of these clashes and did the double over Aberdeen last term, so we’d expect this one to go the same way.

Aberdeen’s 27 goals in 20 games this season pales badly in comparison with the Old Firm duo’s output, but they still hold the best defensive record beyond those Glaswegian sides, so they should make Rangers sweat for the points.

However, across all competitions, at least one team has failed to score in 11 of the Dons’ 15 encounters with either Celtic or Rangers dating back to March 2019, with Aberdeen drawing a blank in 10 of them.

Rangers To Win 1-0, 2-0, 2-1 Multibet

That of course leaves the win to nil looking attractive again for Rangers, though the multibet offers an alternative angle with Aberdeen unlikely to concede by the bucket load.

Five of Aberdeen’s six home defeats in 2020 finished either 1-0 or 2-1, and if they’re able to keep things tight then the 1-0, 2-0 and 2-1 scorelines appear the most probable outcomes.
