Having been rock-bottom of the table for quite some time, Kings XI Punjab have seriously turned their form around with two of their three victories this campaign coming in their most recent two matches against Royal Challengers Bangalore and what looks the team to beat this year in Mumbai Indians.
It doesn’t get any easier for the them though, with the now top of the table Delhi Capitals up next and they’ll have to bring their ‘A’ game yet again.
The Capitals lead the rest of the pack by two points as their sole defeat in six outings came against the Mumbai Indians. Even that match went down to the wire and so it’s no surprise to see them as favourites for this next clash.
However, they had their work cut out last time out to beat the Super Kings, with Shikhar Dhawan hitting his maiden IPL century, which was needed considering the openers yet again failed to get them going.
Indeed, their highest opening partnership now from their last four games has been 12, which came against a struggling Rajasthan Royals outfit, as they managed just four and two zeros in the other three innings’.
Kings XI Highest Opening Partnership
By contrast, Punjab have the best two openers in the competition. After nine matches no player has scored more runs than Kl Rahul, who’s averaging 75, while Mayank Agarwal has the second most this year with 393 at an average of 43.66.
We’re therefore a little surprised to not see the highest opening partnership market at fairly similar prices for both sides and this bet looks a no-brainer.
