Live Ultimate Texas Hold'em

Live Ultimate Texas Hold'em

Texas Hold'em is the classic poker game, made famous by films and casinos the world over. It's what Daniel Craig as James Bond plays so stylishly in Casino Royale. Texas Hold'em is synonymous with the thrill of winning and losing at casinos, and now that thrill is available for you, whenever you want.

Live Ultimate Texas Hold'em puts you up against a live dealer for the real casino experience. There are no other players: no distractions, no waiting and no bluffing necessary. It's just you and the dealer vying for who has the best cards. Evolution has used the latest technology to bring the casino to you, wherever you are. All you need to do is pull out your phone and you can get straight into a game.

The dealer needs a pair or better to qualify, so there are plenty of opportunities to win even before you have to directly compete with them. Across the course of revealing cards, the River and the Flop, you have the chance to bet and raise four times, giving you the chance to double down when you see you have a good hand emerging. The earlier you bet the more you can raise, and the more you raise the more you can win, so when you play Live Ultimate Texas Hold'em, you're rewarded for going with your instincts and putting down money with big wins!

You have more chances to win than simply beating the live dealer. You can make a Trips Bonus Bet, by combining two of your cards with three of the community cards. The game pays on three of a kind or better, regardless of whether you beat the dealer or not, so this is a very real chance to build your winnings up.

You can play Live Ultimate Texas Hold'em Poker online through your PC, and on the move through your phone and tablet, so you can summon the essence of the live casino experience in your home, on the train or even on your lunch break at work. There will always be a live dealer waiting to lay down the cards and take your bet, so you can always just make time for one more round.

What is Ultimate Texas Hold'em?

Ultimate Texas Hold'em is the most popular specialty Hold'em game in the world, an exciting new five-card poker-variant in which the player goes head-to-head against the dealer.

An unlimited number of players can play the same hand simultaneously at one Ultimate Texas Hold'em table. The game is played with one standard 52-card deck, with the cards shuffled after each game.

The aim of the game

The aim is to beat the dealer's hand by getting the best possible five-card poker hand, made out of the two cards dealt to the player and the five community cards.

The player is allowed only one raise per game at three separate opportunities as the game progresses. There's the initial Ante and Blind bets, then three different chances to raise at different points in the game with the Play bet. The earlier the player raises, the more they can wager and win.

To add to the excitement, each player placing an Ante and Blind bet has the option of making a Trips bonus bet.

The Ante and Blind bet and the optional Trips bonus bet

To start the game, the player must make an Ante bet and a Blind bet of equal value. (The Ante bet is placed by the player, while a Blind bet of the same value is placed automatically for them.)

At this point the player may also make an optional Trips bonus bet. This pays out on a range of poker hands, from Three of a Kind or better, no matter what hand the dealer achieves.

The initial deal

Both player and dealer now receive two starting cards. The player's cards are dealt face up, the dealer's cards face down.

The raise x3 or x4 (Play bet)

The player now has a choice. They can raise x4 (4x the value of their Ante bet) or raise x3 (3x the value of their Ante bet), or they can Check (do nothing).

If the player chooses to raise x4 or x3, the appropriate chip value is placed on the Play bet spot and no more raise options will be offered as only one raise is permitted in each game round.

The Flop and the raise x2

The dealer now deals the Flop (the first three of the five community cards).

To assist the player at each stage of the game, the user interface automatically works out and displays the player's best possible poker hand from the dealt cards.

If the player did not raise earlier, they can now raise x2 (2x the value of their Ante bet) or they can Check (do nothing).

If the player chooses to raise x2, the appropriate chip value is placed on the Play bet spot and no more raise options will be offered.

The Turn and River and the raise x1 or Fold

The dealer now deals the Turn and River (the remaining two cards of the five community cards).

If the player did not raise earlier, they now have one final choice. They must raise x1 (a raise equal to their Ante bet) or they must Fold.

If the player chooses to raise x1, the appropriate chip value is placed on the Play bet spot.

If the players Folds they lose their Ante and Blind bets.

The dealer's cards revealed

After this final player decision the dealer turns over his or her two cards.

To find the winner, the best hands are automatically formed and compared for the player and the dealer using five out of the seven available cards (that is, the two cards dealt initially to the player and dealer, plus all five community cards).

The possible outcomes of the main game

The dealer qualifies with a pair or better.

If the dealer's hand does not qualify:

  • 'Dealer did not qualify' is displayed on-screen
  • The dealer signals a push for the Ante and returns the Ante bet to each player that did not fold
  • The player's hand is the evaluated against the dealer's hand to settle the Blind and Play bets:
    • If the player's hand is better than the dealer's, the player's Blind and Play bets will be settled in accordance with the payout rules and tables
    • If the player's hand is weaker than the dealer's, the player does not receive a payout for their Blind or Play bet
    • If the player's hand is equal to the dealer's, the player's Blind and Play bets push.

If the dealer's hand qualifies:

  • The player's hand wins if it has a higher poker value than the dealer's hand. The dealer then settles the Blind and Play bets in accordance with the payout rules and tables
  • The player's hand loses if it has a lower poker value than that of the dealer's hand. The dealer then collects the player's Ante, Blind and Play wagers
  • A tie is called if the player and dealer hands are of equal poker value. The player's Ante, Blind and Play bets all push.

The Trips bonus bet outcome

The Trips bet pays on the poker value of the player's hand regardless of the value of the dealer's hand, according to one Trip bet payout table.
